So there are two independent causes to the blog delays: Christmas shopping, which has nothing to do with fire, lack of a computer and insurance, and the causal web of these three, which is a great example of a situation in which identifying the single "root" cause is a chicken-and-egg proposition and to speak of independence is patently absurd.
I hope all these problems fix themselves or that you manage to fix them.
